Investors in People

A recent external audit has seen Infotec re-accredited as an Investors in People employer, with the inspector concluding: “This organisation takes good people management and development seriously".

And not only has it re-achieved the standard, it has done so at a higher level than last time, moving to Silver from Bronze.  Infotec first achieved the Investors in People (IIP) standard in 1997, and has been reassessed on a regular basis since. There are 39 evidence requirements which all organisations need to achieve to hold the standard and to be able to display the Investors in People plaque and logo.

Tiers above the basic standard were introduced to recognise higher levels of achievement than the original scheme. Infotec was absolutely delighted to be awarded silver level status which was achieved by meeting the regular 39 evidence requirements of the standard plus 89 additional ones. This was a dozen more than needed for silver.

Among the positive comments made her report, the auditor said: “There is no doubt that people feel involved in and understand the priorities and get regular updates on progress, straight from the MD, which people appreciate.”Other activities mentioned in the report as creating a good impression were Infotec taking account of its corporate social responsibility which has been formalised into a new policy, the commitment to learning and development of staff and that people’ s contributions to the organisation are recognised in a range of ways including a recognition award scheme.

Infotec’ s HR Manager Sue Thompson said: “At Infotec we are proud that our staff word hard to provide excellent products and an outstanding level of service for our customers. This comes, in part, from our commitment to the principles of IIP. “The auditor concluded that people feel this is ‘ a great place to work’  and having appropriately trained, motivated staff continues to help us go from strength to strength.

We are very proud of them all.”Among the topics assessed by the IIP framework are the effectiveness of management in leading and developing people, the involvement of people in decision-making and how effectively people learn and develop.
