Real-time train service information is being delivered to passengers using Britain’s newest railway station, Cambridge North, by displays designed and manufactured by Infotec.

The three-platform station is serving trains operated by Greater Anglia and Great Northern on the Cambridge to London Liverpool Street and Cambridge to Norwich routes. In 2019, a new direct Greater Anglia Norwich to Stansted Airport service will be introduced.

 It is expected to ease congestion, both on the roads in the city and for passengers using the existing Cambridge rail station.

The displays are particularly important as Cambridge North, opened on May 21 and which is close to the city's business and science parks, does not have a manned ticket office.

A dozen of Infotec’s full-matrix FM28L displays and six FM40P displays, all using traditional amber LEDs, have been provided for the £50m station.

With Infotec’s Tetrus controller on-board, the displays offer beautifully smooth transitions, stutter free scrolling and enhanced graphical capabilities, providing a first-class information service.

A new Infotec P3025 TFT unit with a modular design for ease of maintenance and rugged housing to provide a vandal-resistant finish has also been installed at the station.

The steelwork support structures for the displays have also been designed, strength calculated and manufactured by Infotec.
