Year by Year

2009

Hopefully the worst of the recession is behind us and we're pleased to say that we are experiencing one of our best years for trading to date. Installations at Oxford, Slough, Southeastern, Milton Keynes, Watford Junction, East Midlands Parkway, SWT and many others are all underway with orders for Thameslink, Brighton, Merseyrail, Northern, Leeds, London Bridge, Cannon Street, etc. all about to leave the factory.

2008
Despite the current economic climate Infotec continues to increase its share of the Rail market through quality and innovation. With DB6 now all but finished, recent completed projects include Edinburgh, Inverness, Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Thameslink, Manchester Victoria, Waterloo, Liverpool Lime St and hundreds of displays across the bus industry. Orders for Southeastern, Milton Keynes, Watford Junction, East Midlands Parkway, Tubelines, First Great Western are currently going through maunfacturing.

2007
The year has flown by with our orders books almost doubling in size from 2 years ago. Our continued growth has seen Infotec recruiting more key staff whilst investing further to ensure that quality, environmental and safety responsibilities are met. Our Engineering Director has bought the company to continue the successful formula Infotec has developed.

2006
The year has gone incredibly well so far with a very healthy order book and the honour of winning the prestigious Enterprise through Innovation category of the Leicestershire Business Awards. Despite a high level of employment in the area, a recruitment event held in a local hotel attracted 80 candidates keen to work at Infotec.

2005
2005 was another tremendous year for Infotec. Projects were completed in Edinburgh Waverley, Victoria, Gatwick Express, Sheffield, Cannon St, York, Doncaster, Newcastle and numerous other sites including Network Rail’s prestigious Modern Facilities at Stations (MFaS) project stations. The success continued with diversification into a new market – London Underground. Infotec were awarded a £2M contract to supply platform next train indicators for Tubelines.

2004
During 2004 success bred success. Infotec completed designs utilising TFT technology and produced direct LED replacements for Network Rail’s ailing Plasma screens. The replacement of Network Rail’s Plasma displays with Infotec LED replacement displays at Paddington was completed and Infotec was given a Network Rail award for this. Systems were successfully installed in Glasgow Central, St Pancras and on the GNER network down the east coast amongst many others.

2003
By 2003 the rail systems were becoming larger and more sophisticated, Infotec developed a new control system, which gave more flexibility and therefore a better product for their customer. Infotec also began to investigate the possibilities of driving various message system hardware with a single control system. Contracts were won for Glasgow, King's Cross Stations and orders for supply bus stop displays continued to roll in. The huge main display at Euston was replaced with Infotec LED units and was acclaimed by Network Rail at the highest level.

2002
Infotec won other contracts to supply displays for Euston along with several smaller railway contracts. Infotec also started to make stronger inroads into the bus stop display market.

1999/ 2001
By 1999 Infotec was successful in winning orders for LED displays -mainly for Bus Stop signs. In 2000 the directors re-focused their marketing on the rail sector and were rewarded in November 2001, by being awarded a major contract by Midland Mainline.

1997 / 1998
Infotec moved to its present premises in February 1997 In 1998 the company embarked on its main development programme of display products, concentrating on LED displays. During this year it became a certified ISO9000 company and was recognised as an Investor in People.

1994 / 1996
In 1994 Infotec moved to premises on South Street in Ashby and continued to develop a variety of products for specific customers and concentrate on designs using NCAP for a German company. Following this development work Infotec was awarded a manufacturing contract. This was the catalyst for Infotec to move in larger premises and grow the business.

1992 / 1993
In April 1992 Vospers & the Courts parted company and Infotec was incorporated. It started trading from a back room in the directors' house. The main operations were related to a display technology from the USA. In October 1992 the company moved to a nursery unit in Whitwick.
