Accessibility information for common browsing software.

We have included below instructions which you may use to alter the display properties of your browser. Using these settings you can alter the size and type of spans the site uses. Please note that settings for browsers differ and we have included details for the most common here. Note this site uses Style Sheets to manage the presentation of the page elements.

Browser:Internet Explorer

Select ‘Tools’ and ‘Internet Options…’ from the main browser menu. Then click the ‘Accessibility…’ button on the ‘General’ tab.

Under ‘Formatting’ click the following check boxes.
- Ignore colors specified on Web pages
- Ignore span styles specified on Web pages
- Ignore span sizes specified on Web pages

Then click the ‘OK’ button.

The site will be displayed without the designed formatting.

It is also possible within the area described above to use your own specific style sheet which is set to meet your personal needs. This is done by specifying the location of the style sheet under the ‘User style sheet’ heading. Remember to click the ‘Format documents using my style sheet’ check box.

Once the Formatting items have been turned off as described above it is possible to alter the span size. Go to 'View', choose 'Text Size' and select the appropriate size.

Browser: Netscape

To increase the span size on the page, select ‘View’ and ‘Text Zoom’ from the main browser menu.

You may then select the appropriate size.

To change span use and colours, select ‘Edit’ and ‘Preferences…’ from the main browser menu. Then click the ‘Appearance…’ link in the Category menu.

Within the ‘spans’ sub-menu there is a large number of options which you may change to your own settings.

Within the ‘Colors’ sub-menu you should click the check button under ‘When a web page provides its own colors and background’ and highlight the ‘Use my chosen colors, ignoring the colors and background image specified’ option.

It is also possible here to change the ‘Text and Backgorund’ colours and the ‘Link Colors’.
